At Babekühl, our artistic practice is driven by the desire to deepen our knowledge of the world. We strive to create experiences that prompt introspection and compel others to contemplate and question the mysteries that surround us. Our fascination with technology and alternate realities has propelled us to explore distorted, pastiche-like realities through a technologically enhanced lens. Blurring the lines between reality and fiction, we call this our own form of techno-expressionism.
The Paranormal Megaliths & Utz Richter
A PARAFICTION BY BABEKÜHL. In 2024, it is near-impossible to imagine a cultural and artistic climate where mysticism and esoteric belief systems could overlap with the world of science and technology. How can the rigorous objectivity of modern technical knowledge be reconciled with the arcane spiritualism which defined human culture in centuries past? 'Paranormal Megaliths' archives the work of an individual who operated at the junction of science and mysticism, viewing them as complementary - rather than conflicting - knowledge systems. That individual is photographer, mystic, technician and inventor, Utz Richter. (This body of work was presented at Blank Gallery from July 4 ~ July 22 2024)
