Title sequence logline :A cat and mouse chase where time is the antagonist. Centered on our protagonist – Teddy. We follow him slipping from one scenario to the next as the hands of time bear down upon him.
Babekühl was approached to work alongside writer/ director Josh Lawson and the team at See pictures to craft an animated opening title sequence for the film ‘Long story short’.
By using a combination of animation, illustration and simple graphical motifs, we lead the viewer through a loose, fragmented introduction to the narrative unfolding in the movie – the story of a man coming to terms with times’ unstoppable nature.
Inspired by the works of Saul Bass, we show the titles in a playful tone with clues from the movie where viewers can subtly interpret and digest. Playing on the graphic symbolism of a clock: it’s hands, numbers and circular shape contrasting the silhouette of Teddy and Leanne.
Colour-wise we have referenced the films costumes and a warmer seasonal palette during which the narrative takes place.
