“Some time ago I read about the discovery of an eel colony in the unhabitable depths of an underwater volcano. Somehow these creatures had not only survived, but found a way to prosper, by living off the heat that came up through the cracks of the earth’s core.” – Phondupe

To complement the hypnotic beats of ‘Eel City’, we animated in loops, to build a music video that felt as organic, earthy and rhythmic like the song. We decided to use a warm, brown colour palette to subvert the expectation of the deep blue water these eels inhabited in.
