Torso

Phondupe

Our visual concept for 'Torso' delves into the raw essence of existence by capturing unscripted, spontaneous moments. These visualisers will capture the energy and unconscious emotion of a character who is guided solely by their instincts, unfettered by direction, instruction or thought. The spectrograms here add another visual layer, delicately mapping the hidden symphony of energy nestled within ‘Torso’. Each scene will unfold organically, offering a candid glimpse into the intricacies of the human experience, where every interaction, emotion, and movement paints a vivid portrait of life’s rich complexity.

The Album

TORSO is a suite of meditative piano compositions. The pieces were written with the intention of removing conscious thought – to pause and capture a singular, honest sensation that was moving through the body at that moment. Each piece is a singular emotion, bottled in time. Further, overdubs and additional layers were shunned to maintain the integrity of each track true to the moment it was conceived – allowing the intention of each moment to shine through without being clouded by concept or thought.

Spectrogram

A spectrogram is a visual representation of the spectrum of frequencies of a signal as it varies with time. It is a measure of the music’s energy wave, transcending mere notation or alphabetical arrangement- akin to capturing the thermal signature of the music, revealing its pulsating rhythm and fluid movement.

With the integration of the spectrogram, we aimed to create a visual harmony that beautifully intertwines the music with the fluid movements captured in the video.
