Threshold
Leanne Xiu Williams
Leanne’s practice explores the expressive potential of the human form. She is principally interested in interrogating the human figure because she believes that through its representation and abstraction, different facets of the human experience are uncovered.
Through her first solo show she explores this threshold and draws parallels between the human body and the inner worlds / outer landscapes that we inhabit. As the body and the act of painting are both mediums through which unmediated transformations take place, it is this dynamism she intends to capture through her work. In portraying the human figure, particularly through self-portraits, friends, and the female form, Leanne hopes to create a space and solace in figurative representation that is also a meditation on sacredness and vulnerability.
